BBC Radio 1 Axes Six Presenters in Major Shake-Up

BBC Radio 1 has announced the departure of six well-known presenters as part of a major shake-up, with YouTube star and I'm a Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here! contestant GK Barry among the surprise replacements. The changes were revealed on Instagram by the station, which thanked the outgoing hosts for their passion and creativity.

Departing Presenters and Replacements

The six presenters leaving the station are Rickie Haywood-Williams, Melvin Odoom, Dean McCullough, Nat O'Leary, James Cusack, and Swarzy. They will be replaced by GK Barry, Charley Marlow, Mylo & Rosie, and Emil Franchi. The station stated: 'We thank them for their passion, creativity and dedication and wish them all the very best for whatever comes next.'

New Shows and Hosting Reshuffles

In addition to the new presenters, several shows will see hosting changes. Charlie Hedges and Jeremiah Asiamah will take over Radio 1's Live Lounge, while Lauren Layfield will front the new The Official Chart: First Look from Birmingham. Shanequa Paris and Oré Olukoga will host Life Hacks at 7pm. Sian Eleri's The Chillest Show moves to 9pm, and Alyx Holcombe's Indie Show shifts to Tuesday nights at 11pm.
