Barron Trump, the 19-year-old son of Donald Trump, is reportedly taking lessons to modify his Slovenian accent in an effort to become more confident. According to celebrity journalist Rob Shuter, speaking to the Daily Mail, anonymous White House insiders said Barron has been quietly working to alter his accent to 'sound more like his American peers'.
Shuter stated: 'Barron is very focused on how he presents himself now.' The source added that the young adult 'wants to be confident when he speaks'. The effort comes after a viral video of Barron at age four showed him speaking English with a strong Slovenian accent, which he reportedly developed as he was primarily raised by his Slovenian-born mother Melania and her parents, Amalija and Viktor Knavs.
Barron remained largely out of the public spotlight during his father's first presidency, but became more prominent during the 2024 campaign. He is credited with helping Trump engage with young male voters by recommending appearances on modern media formats, including the Joe Rogan Experience podcast in October 2024. Will Donahue, president of the College Republicans of America, said in February that the organisation would welcome Barron into its leadership ranks.
Melania Trump has been highly protective of her son's privacy. Last month, she was reportedly angered after a MAGA-aligned influencer revealed details of a private conversation with Barron on a podcast. She also warned influencers who photographed him at Mar-a-Lago over Christmas that they could be removed from the club.
