Barron Trump made a rare public appearance at the World Cup final in New Jersey on Sunday, where Spain defeated Argentina 1-0. The 20-year-old son of President Donald Trump and Melania Trump was seen in a box at Metlife Stadium alongside world leaders and FIFA President Gianni Infantino.

Trump Praises Son's Soccer Knowledge

President Trump credited Barron for keeping him informed about soccer and which players to watch. 'Messi is great, and Ronaldo is great, and I hate to say this, but I watched Pelé when he was with the Cosmos,' Trump said. 'I get this information from my son. Barron is a tremendous soccer fan.'

Norwegian outlet VG reported that Trump is a fan of striker Erling Haaland, a fact he shared with Norway's Prime Minister at a recent NATO summit.

Barron's Soccer Background

Barron has played soccer in the past, joining the academy roster for Major League Soccer's DC United at age 11. In a 2019 interview on CBS's Face The Nation, Trump said Barron 'plays a lot of soccer' and noted that American football would have been too dangerous.

Absent from Family Photo

Despite attending the match, Barron was missing from a family photo shared by Eric Trump on Instagram. The picture included Eric, Ivanka, Donald Trump Jr., Tiffany, and Lara Trump. This is not unusual, as Barron was also absent from Donald Jr.'s wedding in the Bahamas in May.

Barron was seen at the Freedom 250 UFC fight on the White House Lawn in June and attended the State of the Union address in February. A source told the Daily Mail that he 'has a bright future ahead of him' and 'is really starting to resemble his father.'

Barron is currently studying at New York University's Stern School of Business campus in Washington DC. His preference for privacy was discussed by Lara Trump on her podcast, where she said, 'I feel like he's the sleeper. You want to hear more about Barron 'cause you see less of him.'
