Sean Wilson, the former Coronation Street star known for playing Martin Platt, has married his partner of 10 years, Carol, in an intimate family ceremony in the countryside.
Wedding details
The 61-year-old actor wore a navy blue suit with an orange waistcoat. He and Carol shared a kiss outside the church as guests threw confetti and cheered. The couple then left in a cream vintage car.
Sharing photos on social media, Wilson wrote: 'Guess what we did this weekend… a July wedding.' He added: 'Brought me my gorgeous Mrs Wilson… We had a gospel choir, and a church full of legendary (real) friends…' and concluded: 'If we did it all again, it couldn’t be better. Xxx.'
Coronation Street exit
Wilson was set to return to Coronation Street as part of Gail Platt's (Helen Worth) exit storyline but was suddenly removed from the show. He had reportedly filmed scenes before leaving for personal reasons. A source told The Sun: 'It has come as a complete and utter shock to everyone – and his sudden exit has rocked everyone involved with Corrie.'
The source added that Wilson had been enjoying his time on set and had filmed with many cast members before being summoned to head office. No explanation was given for his departure. His role in Gail's exit was later filled by John Thomson, who reprised his character Jesse Chadwick.
Social media return
After his exit, Wilson returned to social media with a cryptic post featuring 'Xx' and later shared a picture of a LOVE light display with the caption: 'Thanks for all the love xxx.'
