Piers Morgan and Ashley James Clash in Heated This Morning Debate Over 'Woke' Culture

Piers Morgan and Ashley James were involved in a heated exchange during Wednesday's edition of This Morning, as the pair reignited their feud over 'woke' culture. The former Good Morning Britain host, 60, joined the ITV programme to debate the news alongside the former Made In Chelsea star and presenters Cat Deeley and Ben Shephard, but tensions quickly escalated.

Ashley attempted to define the term 'woke', describing it as being aware of social injustice, and accused Piers of weaponising the word. Piers responded by recalling their previous encounter, claiming Ashley had played 'the most ridiculous, violin-laden victim' on Instagram for three days afterwards, with fans commenting about how she had survived 'the monster'.

Ashley hit back, insisting that being woke does not make someone weak, and defended the importance of caring about others' lived experiences. She argued that the excuse of 'banter' in the workplace can create a culture where more serious issues are brushed under the carpet.

Piers, however, maintained his position, stating that he is trying to preserve what the country was built on. He noted that jokes and romance should be allowed in the workplace, adding that 40% of marriages used to start there. Ashley acknowledged that fun is possible, but stressed there is a line when people express discomfort.

Piers went on to criticise the 'woke brigade', suggesting they feel uncomfortable about everything and describing the phenomenon as a 'ridiculous snowflakey thing'. Ben Shephard eventually called on viewers to share their opinions, while trying to wrap up the segment as an advert break approached.
