Ashley Cain Hit by Personal Tragedy After BBC Axe

Ashley Cain has been dealt another devastating blow just weeks after being dropped by the BBC. The former reality TV star, 35, took to social media to announce the death of his grandmother, whom he described as his 'carer, protector, and second mum'.

Grandmother's Death Announced on Instagram

Ashley shared a photo on Instagram showing him holding his grandmother's hand. In the caption, he wrote: 'Yesterday, we said goodbye to my grandma. She wasn’t just my grandma. She was my carer, my protector, my confidant and, in so many ways, my second mum.' He added that she helped raise him and shaped the man he is today.

He continued: 'She had the kindest heart I’ve ever known. Everything she did was for somebody else. She carried our family with quiet strength, endless compassion and complete selflessness.' Ashley recalled moments like playing football in her garden and said she made him feel safe and loved.

Recent Setbacks for Ashley Cain

This personal tragedy follows a series of professional setbacks for the former Ex on the Beach star. Earlier this month, the BBC confirmed it would not broadcast his new documentary series after old online posts resurfaced, allegedly showing sexist and misogynistic language. Ashley issued a grovelling apology but was still dropped.

On Monday, June 29, it was revealed that his management company had also severed ties with him amid the controversy. Ashley signed off his tribute by asking his grandmother to give his late daughter Azaylia a 'kiss and cuddle'. Azaylia was born in 2020 and died in 2021 from leukaemia.
