Ariana Grande has been forced to reschedule three shows on her Eternal Sunshine Tour after safety and production issues arose, including a malfunctioning stage lift that trapped the singer and her dancers. The affected dates are at New York's Barclays Center and Boston's TD Garden.
Postponed Shows and New Dates
The July 12 concert at Barclays Center will now take place on July 14. Two Boston shows originally scheduled for July 22 and July 24 have been moved to July 23 and July 26, respectively. Tickets for the original dates will be honored for the rescheduled performances.
Grande apologized to fans in a statement: 'We are so sorry for these unfortunate scheduling changes. This was our best and safest option as these challenges with production have come to our attention.' She added: 'The utmost important thing to us all is safety, first and foremost, and also making sure you all see the show how it is intended to run. Thank you so much for your understanding and I cannot wait to see you.'
Safety Incidents and Fan Frustration
The postponements follow a viral video showing a hidden lift getting stuck as Grande and her dancers emerged from the stage. Other minor issues have included screens cutting out, the opening curtain being too close to dancers, and the singer slipping on her dress. Some fans expressed frustration over non-refundable hotel and travel bookings made for the original dates.
Previous Mishap and Upcoming London Residency
This is not the only recent mishap for Grande. She accidentally posted a photo on Instagram exposing her breast to her 375 million followers. After comments multiplied, she disabled them. She later posted a video with friend Elizabeth Gillies, who joked about the incident. Despite these setbacks, Grande is set to perform a 10-night residency at London's O2 Arena starting August 15.
