Apple Martin, the 18-year-old daughter of Gwyneth Paltrow and Chris Martin, has given a rare interview to Vogue magazine, discussing her personal style and making her Paris Fashion Week debut. The teenager, who sat front row at Chanel's Haute Couture Spring/Summer 2023 show, described her fashion sense as 'a mix of classic '90s and cool grandpa'.
In the interview, the Los Angeles-based high school graduate revealed that comfort and authenticity are key to her wardrobe choices. 'The most important thing for me is feeling like my genuine self when wearing an outfit,' she said. She highlighted her favourite part of her Chanel look as 'the combination of the loafers and the minidress', noting it felt 'very true to my own style'.
Apple's style nod to the 1990s coincides with the era when her mother Gwyneth Paltrow was at the peak of her film career, winning an Oscar for 'Shakespeare in Love' and having high-profile relationships with Brad Pitt and Ben Affleck. The teen also credited her mother's influence, having modelled for Paltrow's G. Label Core Collection in 2020.
Gwyneth Paltrow, founder of Goop, previously described the collection as 'comfortable' but 'cool and elegant', with retro-inspired denim pieces. 'The jeans are '90s, the skirt is straight out of the '70s, and the looks are as enduring as it gets,' she said, adding that they can be worn with 'heels, sandals, or barefoot like my daughter, Apple'.
