Former Blue star Antony Costa has revealed his latest venture – joining the cast of the smash-hit musical Mamma Mia! for its UK tour. The pop sensation, best known for his chart-topping days with the boyband, will be stepping into the world of ABBA as part of the production's upcoming dates.
A New Challenge for the Blue Star
Costa, 42, expressed both excitement and nerves about taking on the role, admitting it's a departure from his usual performances. "I'm absolutely buzzing," he told fans. "It's something completely different for me, but I can't wait to get started."
From Pop Charts to Theatre Stage
The singer, who found fame in the early 2000s with Blue, has been gradually moving into musical theatre in recent years. His participation in Mamma Mia! marks his most high-profile stage role to date, with rehearsals already underway.
"Learning all those ABBA classics has been incredible," Costa shared. "They're such iconic songs, and the show has this amazing energy that just pulls you in."
Family Support Behind the Scenes
The father-of-two also revealed how his family are supporting his new challenge: "My kids think it's brilliant that Dad's going to be singing ABBA songs every night. They've been helping me practice at home!"
The Mamma Mia! UK tour kicks off in January 2025, with dates scheduled across the country. Costa's casting has generated significant buzz among both musical theatre fans and followers of his pop career.
