Anok Yai Slams Met Gala Urination Rumour

Supermodel Anok Yai has dismissed a crude rumour that she urinated herself while wearing a dress to the 2024 Met Gala. The claim originated from a Washington Post article that examined how guests at the event manage bathroom breaks while wearing elaborate outfits.

The article featured an anecdote from stylist Mickey Freeman about an unnamed model who wore a sheer mesh jumpsuit that had to be sewn on due to a zipper problem. Freeman recalled that the model tore the outfit and, inevitably, her bladder reminded her of the situation. The Washington Post identified Yai as the model in question based on her outfit matching the description.

Yai took to Instagram to deny the rumour, writing: 'How dare you misalign my character and imply that I ripped my outfit and peed on myself during the Met Gala of 2024! Fact check next time! Are you crazy?!' Freeman also clarified on social media that the woman he discussed was not Yai, tagging her and saying 'Nope! It was not Queen @anokyai'.

The 28-year-old model, who in 2018 became the first Black woman to open a Prada show since Naomi Campbell, recently attended the 2026 Met Gala wearing a custom Balenciaga gown. Last year, Yai revealed she had been diagnosed with a congenital heart defect affecting her lungs.
