Anne Hathaway 'Shocked' by Easy Pregnancy at 43

Anne Hathaway has opened up about her surprise at becoming pregnant so easily at the age of 43. The Oscar-winning actress, who announced her third pregnancy with husband Adam Shulman last month, admitted she and her husband were stunned when they conceived quickly despite both being in their 40s.

Hathaway Shares Pregnancy News on Late Night

Appearing on the US talk show Late Night with Seth Meyers, Hathaway discussed her third pregnancy and joked that while she and Shulman 'knew what they were doing,' they were shocked to discover it had actually worked. 'Oh, my gosh. It's amazing. It's amazing. I mean, we knew what we were doing, but we were so shocked it worked,' she said. The Hollywood star added: 'We were so shocked it went this way, so we're calling this one our buzzer-beater.'

The couple, who married in 2012, already share two sons: Jonathan, 10, and six-year-old Jack. Hathaway announced the pregnancy in a low-key Instagram post in June, wearing a white flowy dress that revealed her growing bump, with the caption: 'x Baby, I'm yours x.'

Hathaway Gushes About Co-Star Tom Holland

In a separate interview about her new film The Odyssey, Hathaway praised her co-star Tom Holland, whom she plays mother to in the movie. Speaking to E-talk, she said: 'Well, first of all, I have to say as a mum in real life, I very much hope all my children grow up to be as wonderful as my onscreen child.' Holland reportedly almost spit out his drink upon hearing the compliment. Hathaway added that he was 'like a dream son' and key to her performance. 'I just really like Tom,' she continued.

Keeping Family Life Private

Over the years, Hathaway has kept her family life largely out of the spotlight. She previously explained that she doesn't feel the need to intertwine motherhood with her showbiz career. 'It's something I feel is not just essential for my health – I'm on a team, it's my family, and it's not just about me. My family has needs, and one of the needs of children is that they need to be able to define their own lives. It doesn't even occur to me to link the two up, except through gratitude that they serve each other so beautifully,' she said.

In an interview with People magazine, Hathaway discussed how being a 'boy mom' influences her fashion choices. 'I have to always be able to go from a serious business meeting to, like, a basketball court. You have to be able to play pickup basketball at any point, in any outfit. So, when you get dressed in the morning, dress wisely because you are 100 percent are going to have a projectile thrown at you by the end of breakfast,' she said.

Hathaway Praises Husband Adam Shulman

Hathaway also gushed about her husband of 14 years, Adam Shulman, whom she says she fell in love with 'at first sight.' 'He supports me completely. This year in particular was unusual. He and I both know that it's probably never going to happen like this again. And the way he stepped up. I mean, in every possible way. He's the most extraordinary person I've ever met,' she told People.
