Jennifer Aniston has revealed that Lisa Kudrow's son used to call her 'mommy' on the set of Friends as she opened up on their special bond. The actress, 57, spoke about filming the hit show when she spent time with Julian, now 28, whom she described as 'one of the most joyful human beings.'
Lisa, 62, reunited with Jennifer for Variety's Actors on Actors series this week, where they discussed how the third season of Lisa's show The Comeback, in which Julian stars, was shot on Stage 24 of the Warner Bros. lot, where Friends was also filmed.
Jennifer said of the filming location: 'It's like he grew up hearing laughter all the time.' Lisa then added: 'I know. Can you imagine? Just the amount of joy. Because it was the most fun.' Jennifer then told Lisa: 'He is today one of the most joyful human beings that I get to spend time with. Like, I love him. I would choose him as a person I would like to spend time with as a friend, not just because he's your son.'
Lisa then sweetly added: 'When he could first speak, he'd look at the TV, point to Jennifer and say, 'Mommy!' So he had a connection to you.' Jennifer then said: 'That was weird. He knew, somehow, that that would make me feel good.'
Elsewhere in the series, Jennifer shocked fans as she made a rare remark about ex-husband Brad Pitt. Jennifer, who played Rachel Green alongside Kudrow as Phoebe Buffay on the iconic sitcom from 1994 to 2004, lauded Brad, 62, as the pair reflected on the show's best guest stars. He made a memorable appearance in 2002's season eight as Monica (Courteney Cox) and Ross' (David Schwimmer) former high school friend Will Colbert, who hated Rachel. At the time, he and Jennifer were still married, splitting in 2005.
Jennifer asked Lisa: 'Did you like the Thanksgiving episodes? Those were fun.' Lisa responded: 'Yes. Those were great, the Thanksgiving episodes. When Brad was on, that was hilarious.' Jennifer said, 'I know. How funny. The movie stars that came on Friends. Brad, Bruce Willis, Julia Roberts, Isabella Rossellini. We had so many - Sean Penn. They were always nervous. Remember? I always found it fascinating how nervous they were.'
Lisa responded: 'Yes. Nervous. Well, because what's the tone? It's not theater; it's for TV. It's not a movie. What the hell is this? And it's a good question. And I remember someone asked one time. I didn't know how to explain it, so I said, 'Oh, just talk louder!'
Jennifer and Brad had one of Hollywood's hottest romances, which sparked up in 1998. They married in a lavish Malibu ceremony in 2000. However, they announced their split in January 2005. Brad and Angelina Jolie were first linked in 2005, when they worked together on the film Mr. & Mrs. Smith, and confirmed their relationship shortly after Brad's divorce from Jennifer was finalized. They welcomed their first child together in May 2006, daughter Shiloh. Brad and Angelina welcomed twins Vivienne and Knox two years later. They did not wed until 2014 and subsequently filed for divorce in 2016.
