Angry Ginge's mother has admitted to feeling 'surprised' after her son conquered his fear of spiders during a trial on I'm A Celebrity...Get Me Out of Here!. The YouTuber, whose real name is not disclosed, is currently a fan favourite on the ITV series.
Speaking on Lorraine on Monday (December 1), Michelle and Ginge's sister Tasha joined host Lorraine Kelly live from Australia. Michelle said: 'That was my worst one that, I thought it may come across that he wouldn't do the spiders. As I said in the letter from home today, he doesn't even like putting the wheelie bins out at night in case there's a tiny spider on it.'
She added: 'So, I didn't even think he'd pick those up. Honest to god, he really, really surprised me with that.' Lorraine commented that Ginge likely surprised himself, noting that facing fears is what the show is about.
Michelle expressed her pride, saying: 'So so proud of him. He isn't angry, that was the name he came up with quite a few years back when he used to sulk when he lost a football match on FIFA. But now he's not angry, he's the most caring, kind person you could meet.' She also joked: 'No, we don't want to see him anytime soon. [We're] not being horrible, but the longer the better.'
Earlier, Ginge had opened up to campmates about his working-class background and how his mother's multiple jobs motivated him. He tearfully said: 'If she can do it, then I can do this in the jungle, so that's what keeps me going really.' He also spoke about the mental challenges of building a social media following and his belief that hard work surpasses talent.
I'm A Celebrity...Get Me Out of Here! airs at 9pm on ITV1 and ITVX.
