YouTuber Angry Ginge has revealed the cause of the devastating fire that ravaged his mother's home in Bacup, killing three of her pets. The fire was started by one of her cats jumping on the hob, turning it on and igniting an object, according to an investigation.
The 24-year-old, whose real name is not disclosed, shared the details during a Twitch stream weeks after the blaze. He described the scenario as "something out of f***ing Tom and Jerry," saying the cat knocked something onto the hob, which then caught fire. The flames spread from the kitchen to the living room and stairs, destroying much of the property.
Fire Broke Out During Soccer Aid
The fire occurred at the start of June while Ginge and his mother were in London for Soccer Aid for UNICEF at the London Stadium. His mother was staying away from home for the first time in weeks, a fact that likely saved her life. Ginge said, "If my mum was in the house, she wouldn't have made it out."
He first revealed the fire on June 3, sharing a video of the damage. He later confirmed the loss of two cats, Simba and Herbert, and a rabbit named Sparky. "They didn't make it out which is obviously really, really sad," he said, breaking down in tears.
Investigation Findings
Ginge explained that investigators determined the cause by examining the hob. "The hob that had four things, one side was more burnt than the others, which means that would have had to start it," he said. The fire could have ignited instantly or taken up to an hour to spread, but ultimately it destroyed the kitchen and other parts of the house.
Despite the tragedy, Ginge expressed relief that his mother was unharmed. He continues to share updates with his online followers, showing the extent of the damage and the emotional impact of losing the pets.
