Angelina Jolie is reportedly planning to leave the United States and base herself in Europe, according to a long-time friend and actor Jae Benjamin. The 50-year-old Hollywood star is said to be seeking more privacy amid her ongoing legal disputes with ex-husband Brad Pitt.
Benjamin told PageSix that Jolie 'can’t get far enough away from the drama' and that the only way to take a break is to get out. He added that she will go and decompress, only working on things that drive her heart, soul and passion.
The actress has been locked in a lengthy dispute with Pitt over their French winery, Chateau Miraval, which the couple bought in 2011 for roughly $60 million. Following their divorce in 2019, Jolie is thought to be considering selling her stake, but Pitt claims they had an agreement not to sell without mutual consent.
Jolie, who has six children with Pitt, previously told The Hollywood Reporter that she intended to leave the US once her youngest children turned 18, which will happen this July. She said she was only in Los Angeles because of the divorce, but as soon as they are 18, she will be able to leave.
The former couple married in 2014 and separated in 2016, with their divorce finalised in 2019. In December, a Los Angeles court ruled that Jolie must hand over previously withheld private messages related to the winery dispute, giving her 45 days to comply.
