Real life soap couple Amy Walsh and Toby-Alexander Smith have revealed the adorable name of their new baby daughter. Amy, known to soap fans as troubled Tracy Shankley in Emmerdale, and Toby, who played psychotic serial killer Gray Atkins in EastEnders, announced the name of their second child: Nell Rose Smith.
Announcement on Social Media
The couple took to their Facebook page this week to share the news with fans. They posted: 'Hello and welcome to Amy & Toby – Family Life. We thought we'd start by introducing the newest member of our little family who is already 12 weeks old today. Meet Nell Rose Smith. Alongside the beautiful moments, we'll be sharing a little glimpse into our family life, balancing work and parenthood, and all the chaos in between. Thanks for joining us. Amy & Toby.'
Previous Birth Announcement
Back in March, Amy took to Instagram to share the first snap of their newborn daughter. She posted a black and white image of the baby's leg, still wrapped with a hospital bracelet, and captioned it: 'This time last week I was heading into established labour. We've been in the most magical bubble ever since.' The post was flooded with supportive comments, including from her superstar sister, Girls Aloud singer Kimberley Walsh, who left a slew of emojis.
Well-Wishes from Co-Stars
Co-star Isabel Hodgins, who plays Victoria Sugden and is also on maternity leave, commented: 'Amazing!!' On-screen sister Michelle Hardwick (Vanessa Woodfield) added: 'She's perfect.' Other co-stars including Amelia Flanagan (April Windsor), Lisa Riley (Mandy Dingle), Katie Hill (Sarah Sugden), Bradley Johnson (Vinny Dingle), and Beth Cordingly (Ruby Miligan) also shared their congratulations. Former Hollyoaks star Nikki Sanderson, EastEnders alum Lorraine Stanley, and Coronation Street's Catherine Tyldesley (Eva Price) also sent their best wishes.
The Couple's Love Story
Amy and Toby are also parents to their eldest daughter, Bonnie-Mae. They have been together since they met in the audience of a Strictly Come Dancing episode in 2019. The couple have previously spoken about the role 'fate' played in bringing them together. Amy was there to support Kelvin Fletcher, while Toby was cheering on Emma Bunton. Kelvin, however, wasn't originally supposed to be in the line-up but replaced Made in Chelsea's Jamie Laing after he broke his ankle. During the show, the couple ended up talking, and when the chemistry became evident, they agreed to go on a date, eventually marrying in 2023.
Second Pregnancy Announcement
They originally announced their second pregnancy with an adorable video posted to social media. The video showed Toby, Amy, and Bonnie removing their hands, one-by-one, from a frame to finally reveal a baby scan picture, while Amy announced to an elated Bonnie that she was going to soon have a little brother or sister. 'Smith/Walsh baby 2.0 incoming 2026,' Amy wrote alongside the post.
Upcoming Work Plans
While Amy is on maternity leave, Toby will be returning to Albert Square for a short stint as crazed killer Gray, following the imprisonment of his character back in 2022, after a murderous spree that claimed the lives of his long-abused wife Chantelle Atkins (Jessica Plummer), Tina Carter (Luisa Bradshaw-White), and Kush Kazemi (Davood Ghadami).
