Amy Schumer Reveals Secret Back Surgery, Uses Walker During Recovery

Amy Schumer has disclosed that she underwent secret surgery for a back injury, sharing a photo on Instagram of herself using a walking aid. The 44-year-old actress explained that her L5 vertebra had been causing her severe pain since a surfing injury years ago, leading her to have a laminectomy.

The operation, which involves removing part of the spinal bone to relieve pressure on the nerves, is expected to have a short recovery period. Schumer also revealed that she fell off a horse during a lesson with her son about a week before the surgery, but she got back on to demonstrate resilience to her riding students.

Schumer previously spoke about being diagnosed with Cushing's syndrome after online trolls commented on her 'moon face'. She said the condition was triggered by steroid injections she received for scars following the birth of her first son in 2019. The actress noted that the condition resolved itself as the excess cortisol left her system.
