Amy Childs Reveals Stress Led to Unintended Weight Loss

Amy Childs, the 35-year-old star of The Only Way Is Essex, has candidly shared how battling significant stress resulted in her losing "a little more weight than I wanted." The reality television personality, who is preparing for her upcoming wedding to fiancé Billy Delbosq, has sparked concern among fans and is now embarking on a focused fitness mission to regain healthy weight and build muscle.

From Overweight to Over-Stressed: A Personal Journey

In a heartfelt Instagram post featuring a before-and-after photo, Amy admitted she was previously "overweight and unhappy" and decided to lose weight. However, the process became complicated by stress, leading to excessive weight loss. She wrote: "During that process, I battled with stress and lost a little more than I wanted." This honest revelation comes as she works with nutrition coach Jon from @jon_jkphysique on what she calls "phase 2" of her health journey.

New Focus: Gaining Muscle for a Healthy Wedding Body

Amy is now dedicated to increasing muscle mass and gaining healthy weight to become more toned ahead of her lavish wedding ceremony later this year. She expressed excitement about this new phase, though acknowledged it presents its own challenges. "Got to be honest I am finding this is harder than losing weight," she shared, praising her coach for being supportive and expert in nutrition. The mother-of-four had previously revealed that incorrect training and dropping two stone caused her to lose muscle, highlighting the importance of her current structured approach.

Underlying Stressors: Family Health and Parenting Pressures

The weight loss is not solely due to dietary changes; Amy has been facing considerable personal stress. Her brother Billy was recently involved in a major car accident that wrote off his car, leaving Amy thankful "someone was looking over her brother." Additionally, she constantly worries about her mother's health following a heart attack. Juggling parenting four children—Polly, eight, Ritchie, seven, and twins Billy and Millie, two—adds to the pressure. In an emotional interview with OK! Magazine, Amy explained: "I'm going through so much at the minute that the weight has fallen off me... It's the result of pure stress."

Addressing Criticism and Looking Ahead

Amy has also faced cruel trolling about her appearance, with people speculating she isn't eating. She countered this, stating: "People think I'm not eating, but I do eat. To be honest, I do feel better when I'm a bit heavier than I am at the moment." To manage her health, she now follows a nutrition plan and trains three times a week, incorporating activities like Padel and Pilates. As she navigates these challenges, Amy remains optimistic about her fitness goals and her impending marriage, promising to keep followers updated on her progress.
