Amanda Holden has been supported by fans as she held back tears during an emotional conversation with Alan Carr about her late son. The Britain's Got Talent judge and radio presenter appeared on the latest episode of Amanda and Alan's Greek Job on BBC One, where she opened up about the devastating loss of her son Theo, who was stillborn at seven months in 2011.
"When we lost Theo, there wasn't one moment where I thought, 'Why has this happened to me?'" she told Carr. "But there also wasn't a moment where I blamed God or anything. I just, the way I accepted it, was to say that he chose me, just for those few months to see what it was like to live and develop and be in the universe, and then the universe took him back."
Carr replied, "You've got to process it some way, you've got to make some kind of sense." Holden, 52, who is also mother to daughters Lexi, 18, and Hollie, 12, with husband Chris Hughes, continued: "That was the only way I could make sense of it, I was like, gosh, I was so lucky to have him for all that time. And even though he was born sleeping, he was perfect." Holding back tears, she added, "And I always, always say I'm a mother of three. Always. Because I am."
Fans praised her bravery online, with one writing: "Oh my, you have just brought comfort to so many through your own grief, you are a beautiful soul." Another said: "She is such a special person, I am in awe of her strength and logic." During a previous episode, Holden revealed she "died" after giving birth to daughter Hollie, saying: "Life is so precious, and it can disappear from you so fast. I'm just like, make every second count, literally."
