Amanda Holden has publicly criticised her first husband, Les Dennis, for a grim habit he previously confessed to, during a live discussion on Heart Radio about relationship 'icks'. The 55-year-old Britain's Got Talent judge, co-hosting the Breakfast Show with Jamie Theakston, revealed she could relate to a listener's disgusting anecdote, taking a swipe at the former Family Fortunes host.
Amanda Holden Reveals Ex-Husband's Distasteful Habit
Before reading the listener's message, Holden said: 'I mean, I can relate to this, my first husband did the same thing, not my current one, who is perfect obviously.' Theakston quipped: 'Is this the reason why he's an ex?' Laughing, Holden acknowledged that Dennis 'wasn't keen' on her mentioning it before, but proceeded to read the listener's confession: 'My husband saved his fingernail clippings to use as a toothpick.'
Holden declared: 'That is wrong on so many levels! I mean maybe that's from my first husband's third wife, [it] could be from her, she could've texted in this morning. But anyway, that is an ick!'
Les Dennis' Confession on Would I Lie To You?
The habit was first publicly admitted by Les Dennis during a 2021 episode of the BBC panel show Would I Lie To You?. He told the panel: 'I like to keep my old fingernail clippings so I can use them later on. If I get a really good one that's got a nice hook in it, then I will save it for later.' He explained that regular toothpicks 'don't quite get in' between his teeth, leaving the panel gobsmacked. When asked if the claim was true, Dennis confirmed: 'It is [true], and I promise not to do it any more now.'
Holden's Marriage to Les Dennis and Current Relationship
Holden was married to Dennis from 1995 to 2003. She has been married to her current husband, Chris Hughes, since 2008. During the same Heart Radio segment, Holden also shared 'icks' from her current marriage, including a listener's joke about a partner's breathing, to which she responded: 'I've got that with Chris!' She also revealed that Hughes dislikes her habit of dictating into her phone due to her long nails, saying it often comes out 'completely wrong' and that he compares it to a 'Countdown conundrum' trying to decipher it.
