Amanda Holden has publicly called out her ex-husband Les Dennis for a grim habit he previously confessed to on television. During a segment on the Heart Radio Breakfast Show discussing relationship 'icks,' the 55-year-old presenter revealed she could relate to a listener's stomach-turning confession.
Amanda Shares Personal Connection to Listener's 'Ick'
Before reading the listener's message aloud, Holden told co-host Jamie Theakston: 'I mean, I can relate to this, my first husband did the same thing, not my current one, who is perfect obviously.' Theakston quipped back: 'Is this the reason why he's an ex?' Laughing, Holden referenced a previous occasion when she had mentioned the habit, noting Dennis 'wasn't keen' on her bringing it up again.
She then read the listener's submission: 'My husband saved his fingernail clippings to use as a toothpick.' Reacting, the Britain's Got Talent judge said: 'That is wrong on so many levels! I mean maybe that's from my first husband's third wife, [it] could be from her, she could've texted in this morning. But anyway, that is an ick!'
Les Dennis' Confession on Would I Lie To You?
Dennis, 70, had previously admitted to the habit during a 2021 episode of the BBC panel show Would I Lie To You?. He told the panel: 'I like to keep my old fingernail clippings so I can use them later on. If I get a really good one that's got a nice hook in it, then I will save it for later.' He explained that ordinary toothpicks 'don't quite get in' to the spaces between his teeth, leaving the panel astonished. When asked to reveal if he was telling the truth, Dennis confessed: 'It is [true], and I promise not to do it any more now.'
Holden's Marriage History and Current Relationship
Holden was married to Dennis from 1995 until 2003. She has been married to Chris Hughes since 2008. Dennis has since wed Claire Nicholson in 2009. During the same Heart Radio show, Holden also discussed 'icks' in her current marriage. After a listener joked that her husband's breathing was a turn-off, she responded: 'I've got that with Chris!' She also revealed one of her husband's bugbears: 'My husband particularly doesn't like... I dictate into my phone all the time because I can't be bothered to type, because I've got massive nails, and often it comes out completely wrong. And he says it's like a Countdown conundrum trying to work it out.'
