Amanda Holden 'devastated' over lockdown breach to visit parents in Cornwall

Britain's Got Talent judge Amanda Holden has said she is 'devastated' after breaking lockdown rules by travelling more than 200 miles to see her parents in Cornwall. Her agent confirmed the trip followed a 'distressing' phone call from her elderly father.

Under current coronavirus regulations, travel outside one's local area is banned except for essential journeys. Holden's agent stated that 'on balance' she felt the round-trip from London was necessary to deal with an issue at her parents' home.

The Sun reported that neighbours in Cornwall complained to police about the visit. Holden's agent emphasised that she did not 'act on a whim' and has followed regulations 'every step of the way' during England's three lockdowns.

Holden's parents have both received vaccines, and she is tested weekly, so she believed she was not putting them at risk. She has since returned to London. Earlier on Friday, she had been working on her Heart Radio show, where she received gifts ahead of her 50th birthday on Tuesday.
