Amanda Holden has fired back at critics who suggest she is raising a nepo baby by encouraging her 20-year-old daughter Lexi to pursue modelling. The Britain's Got Talent host, 55, argued that all parents, famous or not, would want their children to succeed in their chosen careers.
Amanda Defends Lexi's Modelling Ambitions
Lexi is signed by Storm Management and made her catwalk debut in 2024 at London Fashion Week. Speaking to the Daily Mail, Amanda said: "Being someone's kid is not going to secure work, make a living for you and longevity in whatever career. It may get you a foot in the door, but then you're on your own, so I think it's unfair to sort of single out showbusiness or the music industry, because they're the worst businesses to be in!"
Supporting Both Daughters
Amanda also helps her 14-year-old daughter Hollie, using her role on Heart Breakfast to get her foot in the door at Global Radio studios. She shared: "At Global, this is the week where the kids come in to make the tea and coffee and see how it all works. Everyone has such tenuous connections and it's brilliant, we welcome them with open arms. Hollie is going to be doing this next year, but any kid that I know - if they needed a hand, the door is open. If I can help anyone, I'll do it. It's not just my own kids, it's my friends' kids."
Rejecting the Nepo Baby Label
Amanda added: "I just hate the term nepo baby because it's up to them to make it on their own. And it's often worse having a famous parent, it's not often a good thing." She noted that Hollie is embarrassed to have a famous mum, saying: "I have to drop her off at the end of the road! She loves it when it can get her into like the theatre for like The Stranger Things premiere or something, but yeah, she hates it the rest of the time."
