Amanda Holden Reveals Secret Home Projects When Husband Is Away
Heart Radio breakfast show host and Britain's Got Talent judge Amanda Holden has humorously opened up about the many innocent things she does behind her husband's back. The 54-year-old presenter made the lighthearted admission during a recent broadcast, sharing that she takes advantage of her husband Chris Hughes being away to undertake various household projects.
Radio Confession Sparks Laughter Among Listeners
The conversation began when Amanda's co-host Jamie Theakston told listeners about his wife's decision to rescue two more cats while he was away on holiday. Jamie joked that he can no longer go away for fear his home will transform into a "cattery," explaining that his wife Sophie "smuggled two in when I was away last time" and uses his absence as cover for her pet-rescuing activities.
"She's got a whole double life that she leads," Jamie quipped about his wife's secret pet acquisitions. "And then if I'm on a golf weekend or away with my mates, she feels, 'Well if he's doing that, I'm going to get more kittens'. So now, I can't go away or she's going to have a cattery."
Amanda's Own Secret Household Activities
Amanda then revealed she shares a similar approach to her husband's absences, though with different domestic projects. "I love that she does that, it makes me feel better because when Chris goes away, I decorate a room or clear out his awful t-shirts, burn the crocs," the television personality confessed with laughter.
"I do so many things behind his back like that, innocent things, but things where he'd get cross if he was at home or he'd say, 'We don't need to do that'," Amanda continued, acknowledging that her husband would likely object to some of her spontaneous home improvements and wardrobe clear-outs.
Ongoing Debate About Adding Another Pet
The conversation naturally turned to pets, with Amanda revealing her current desire to rescue another puppy despite her husband's objections. "I really do want to rescue another puppy you see, but Chris is putting his foot down at the moment," she shared before joking, "When is he going away?"
This isn't the first time Amanda has expressed her wish to expand their furry family. Last month, she told listeners she was keen to add another puppy to their already busy household, which includes their two daughters, Hollie and Lexie, rescue dog Rudie, and cats Muffy and Bolt.
Husband's Resigned Acceptance
Reflecting on past decisions, including their recent rescue of a furry addition from Greece, Amanda revealed her husband's resigned attitude toward her determined nature. "Chris always says, 'I don't know why you're asking me because you're going to do it anyway'," she shared with amusement.
Later in the show, Amanda expanded on the theme, suggesting many couples experience similar dynamics. "I think he thinks he's alone and that I'm just this wife that does all this stuff behind his back and he's not alone Jamie, you're there with him," she told her co-host. "There must be loads of people whose husbands and wives that do this sort of thing."
Public Plea for Another Puppy
In a humorous on-air plea during a recent episode, Amanda attempted to use the public platform to sway her husband's opinion about getting another dog. "[We've got] lots of furry babies, I'm going to have to talk to Chris because I really want to rescue another puppy and if he's listening and it goes out on air, it'll be very difficult for him to turn me down," she strategized.
Attempting to sweeten her request further, Amanda added affectionately, "Darling, I love you," demonstrating her playful approach to marital negotiations about household decisions and pet ownership.
