Alison Hammond has faced backlash from This Morning viewers after repeatedly mispronouncing Elvis Presley's name during an interview with his ex-wife, Priscilla Presley. The 50-year-old presenter referred to the legendary singer as 'Alvis' multiple times while introducing Priscilla, who appeared on the show to promote her memoir 'Softly, As I Leave You: Life After Elvis'.
Viewers took to social media to express their frustration, with one person asking: 'Who is Alvis, Alison?' Another joked: 'Just waiting for Priscilla to ask who the hell is this person Alvis you keep mentioning.' A third quipped: 'She fell in love with Alvis. Good job Elvis didn't find out about that!'
During the interview, Priscilla, 80, discussed meeting Elvis when she was 14 and he was 24, their marriage, and the challenges that led to their divorce in 1973. She also revealed that Elvis once considered hiring a hitman to kill her boyfriend, Mike Stone, after discovering her affair.
Priscilla's memoir details the discovery of letters from other women to Elvis, which prompted her to end the marriage. She wrote: 'The mailbox was stuffed full of letters from girls. I finally held written proof of what I'd always feared.' Despite Elvis's initial rage, he was eventually talked out of the murder plot.
