Alison Hammond was forced to awkwardly deny engagement rumours during Friday's episode of This Morning, after her co-host Dermot O'Leary opened the show with wedding bells and congratulations.
The 48-year-old presenter laughed off the speculation, saying: 'Cut the music! I'm not engaged, I'm so sorry I'm not engaged! I told you, if I was ever to get engaged or get married I would be the first person to tell you! I'd put all over Instagram and TikTok!'
The confusion arose after Hammond's would-be father-in-law, Colin Hawkins, 72, exclusively told MailOnline earlier this week that the couple had 'proposed to one another'. However, Hammond insisted it was 'fake news' and that she is not getting married.
Hawkins had described Hammond as 'the nicest woman we've ever met' and expressed his hope that wedding bells were on the horizon. The couple are believed to have been together for around 18 months after meeting when Hammond employed Ben Hawkins to tend to her garden.
Hammond's denial came after she and Ben were pictured together for the first time last week. She reiterated that if she were to become engaged, she would be the first to share the news with her fans.
