Alison Hammond has addressed whether she intends to marry her boyfriend David Puttnam. The This Morning host, 51, struck up a friendship with massage therapist Puttnam, 28, when she was his client in 2023, and they went public with their romance in April 2024. Last year, she revealed she has moved in with the Russian model and raved about the “rare” kind of love they have for each other.
Hammond Discusses Marriage Plans
Now, Hammond has discussed whether marriage is on the cards for the loved-up pair. “I've got a lovely man in my life,” she told The Mirror. “It's just easy. I think that's when you know you've got something special. He just sees me for who I am. We choose each other, every day.”
Reflecting on backlash to their 22-year age gap, she added: “It's nothing to do with anyone else. Yeah, people are going to talk. People do. But that's their business, not mine.”
As for whether there are wedding bells, the Great British Bake Off host said: “I don't think [there will be a wedding]. We don't need to! We're both cool.” However, back in December, Hammond admitted that while she “doesn’t need a ring” to show her love for Puttnam, if he did propose then it “wouldn’t be a no”.
Living Together and Age Gap
They are believed to live together in a greater London suburb. Hammond moved from her long-time home near Birmingham to a new house in March 2024 to be closer to the capital for her filming commitments. She previously addressed the age gap between them and dismissed the “toyboy” label. “I can see how, on paper, you’d notice the age difference. But honestly, when we see the word ‘toyboy’ written about us, it bears no relation to what we have at all,” she told Good Housekeeping UK in December 2024. “Yes, I’m 22 years older than he is, but if you saw us together, you’d understand. People have said to me, ‘We get it now.’”
Defending the age gap, she added: “He’s so mature and sensible, and I’m so not. And the things he says to me... they’re just so lovely. It’s like a jigsaw; we fit and it all comes together.”
Weight Loss Transformation
Hammond also hit the headlines last year with her 11 stone weight loss. The presenter, who weighed 28 stone at her heaviest, got down to 16 and a half stone and reversed a pre-diabetic diagnosis by transforming her fitness and diet regime. She previously revealed she had heard “scare stories” about weight loss injections and had been too “frightened” to try them. Hammond shed the weight by committing to four fitness sessions a week with a personal trainer and a healthier diet. Her transformation followed years of ups and downs with her weight, including undergoing a gastric band in 2007, which she later had removed after her body rejected it. “I've got a personal trainer - she's amazing, she trains me when I can train,” she previously told Heat. “If I'm working, I don't train, I'll go for a walk. But when I'm at home, I'll go and have a session with her in the morning, just an hour. It might be four days a week.”
