Strictly Come Dancing star Alexis Warr has confirmed she has parted ways with her husband Jake Burton after almost eight years of marriage. The American dancer, 26, wed her childhood sweetheart in November 2018 and publicly announced their separation via a joint statement posted on Instagram.
Joint Statement on Instagram
In the statement, Warr wrote: "Sorry I've been a bit MIA...sharing a personal update. After much consideration and with the greatest respect for each other, Jake and I have made the decision to separate. Whilst this hasn't been an easy decision, it has been reached with a huge amount of love and we're each other's biggest cheerleaders." She added: "We won't be commenting on this further and kindly ask for privacy and understanding as we navigate this life change together." Burton, a dentist, published the identical statement on his own Instagram page.
History of Their Relationship
The former couple tied the knot on November 15, 2018, and regularly shared posts celebrating their relationship. Last November, Warr wrote: "Happy anniversary to the absolute love of my life. 7 years of being your wife has been an absolute privilege. I'm so incredibly lucky and grateful to be loved by you." A month prior, she described herself as a "proud wifey" after Burton's success in dental school examinations, saying: "Couldn't be more grateful for his heart, his drive, and the way he supports and loves me through it all."
Warr's Career Rise
Warr gained prominence after winning the American edition of So You Think You Can Dance in 2022. She joined the dance ensemble on Dancing With The Stars in 2024 before becoming a professional dancer on Strictly Come Dancing last year. In her debut series, she was partnered with podcast presenter George Clarke, finishing as joint runners-up.
