Alex Scott has opened up about a disastrous date with Coronation Street star Sam Robertson, which ended up being splashed across the tabloids after a fellow diner snapped a photo. The former Arsenal and England footballer, now 41, shared the story while appearing on I'm a Celebrity...Get Me Out of Here!.
Speaking to The Sun's Fabulous magazine, Scott said: 'I never seem to have a lot of luck on dates. My one date in ages was going out with Sam [Robertson], who is lovely. The next morning, our pictures were all over the press because someone in the restaurant had taken a photo. It wasn't exactly a great start!'
Before her short fling with Robertson, Scott had a secret eight-year relationship with former teammate Kelly Smith. She revealed the romance in her 2022 book, How (Not) To Be Strong, telling the Mirror: 'I'm writing this book and I want to tell everything. I thought I'd be cheating you all if I didn't put that in there. For me, it's like that first love story. I fell madly and deeply in love.'
Scott is now happily with musician Jess Glynne, but their relationship has also had its challenges. She told The Times in 2024 how her upbringing by her father, Tony, affected her ability to show affection. 'We weren't allowed to express emotion. Dad didn't allow us to hug each other or say 'I love you'. It had a huge impact on us all,' she said.
Tony Scott has refuted these claims, telling the newspaper: 'Perhaps she is judging me by today's standards, I don't know. Parents were a lot tougher back then. But I was never violent, that's just not me.'
