Former I'm A Celebrity contestant Alex Scott has made the immediate decision to leave Australia and return to the UK following her elimination from the show, cutting short the traditional post-eviction stay to be with her partner, singer Jess Glynne, during a serious family health crisis.
An Urgent Departure from Down Under
Alex Scott revealed she would not be remaining at the contestant hotel until the final, as is customary for evicted celebrities. Instead, she is flying home straight away after expressing her need to provide support. The catalyst for this urgent departure is that Jess Glynne's mother has suffered a stroke, requiring urgent brain surgery.
Scott admitted that even before she flew to Australia to participate in the reality show, she had agonised over whether to pull out. The situation was a tough time for the couple and Jess's family, making the decision to enter the jungle a difficult one.
The Emotional Decision to Enter the Jungle
Ultimately, it was Jess Glynne who encouraged Alex to take the opportunity. Jess was the one that pushed me to be here, Scott stated in a previous interview. She acknowledged being aware that there was always a possibility of a worsening situation back home, but Glynne did not want her to step away from the experience.
Scott described the agony of being in the jungle without daily contact, saying, I found that really tough... not being able to speak to Jess every day and just check in. Their infrequent conversations were described as emotional moments, with Scott constantly concerned about the well-being of both Jess and her mother.
A Heartfelt Reunion and Public Explanation
Upon her eviction on November 29th, Alex was greeted on the bridge not by Jess, but by her close friend Regan Coleman. Her first thought was to immediately FaceTime her partner. My first thought when I didn't see Jess on the bridge was that I needed to... speak to her, she admitted.
Hours after Alex left the jungle, Jess Glynne took to social media to explain her absence in an emotional statement. She detailed that her mother had suffered a major stroke and needed urgent brain surgery in recent weeks. Glynne described it as a really serious, life-altering time for my family, which necessitated her staying close to home. She expressed that Alex would always want me to be where I'm needed most and shared that she can't wait to have her back by my side.
When asked if she had considered withdrawing from the show entirely, Alex confirmed, Oh, yeah, absolutely, 100 percent. Her motivation for staying was to honour Jess's wish for her to participate and to make her partner proud.
