Friends of Alex Reid say the 'last straw' that prompted him to release a video of Katie Price counting a pile of cash was her spokesperson's claim that she is 'at peace'. The video, filmed in late 2020, shows Price lounging on a couch while sorting through a wad of money and making a rude gesture towards ex-husband Peter Andre.
Reid, a former Big Brother star and Price's second husband, shared the footage this week. A close friend told The Sun that Reid was upset by a statement from Price's representative responding to Peter Andre's claims about their children's custody. The statement said Price was 'at peace with the situation'.
According to the friend, Reid read the words 'Katie is at peace' repeatedly and was 'crushed' because he is 'most certainly not at peace' after their marriage. The friend added that Reid feels Price takes no accountability, and that her statement was dismissive and hypocritical.
The 1-minute-38-second video has reportedly been sent to Price's bankruptcy trustee, who is seeking realisations from third parties. Price, 47, was bankrupted twice over debts exceeding £3 million.
In the video, Price is seen waving cash and saying there is 'loads here' while sorting it out. When daughter Princess asked about school fees, Price made a rude gesture and said 'your dad can sit on that'. The footage also shows Price referring to 'my London flat' which fans believe was allocated to Peter Andre in their divorce settlement.
Following the video's release, Price's representative said the cash did not belong to her and that the property had been dealt with in the divorce settlement. The trustee was already aware of the video and had investigated it.
