Alex Jones in Tears Over Sara Cox's Million-Pound Charity Run

The One Show host Alex Jones has revealed she was moved to tears while listening to BBC Radio 2 presenter Sara Cox's emotional update on her Children in Need challenge. Speaking on Wednesday's episode of the BBC programme, Jones admitted she had to pull over her car after being overcome with emotion.

Sara Cox is currently running 135 miles across four counties—Northumberland, Durham, North Yorkshire, and West Yorkshire—to raise funds for Children in Need. The gruelling challenge, equivalent to five marathons over five days, saw Cox break down in tears when she learned she had surpassed the £1 million fundraising mark.

Discussing the moment with co-host Angellica Bell, Alex Jones said: 'We just need to talk about Sara for a minute. Did you hear her on Radio 2 this morning? I had to pull over because I was in floods of tears. She is amazing.' Jones added: 'If you're watching Sara, good luck, we are so behind you.'

Earlier in the day, Cox had spoken to DJ Scott Mills on Radio 2, who informed her of the fundraising total. 'Oh my God! That is amazing. Thank you. You've completely broken me. Everybody who has donated, thank you so much,' Cox exclaimed. Mills, visibly emotional, replied: 'I am so proud of you.'

The One Show airs weekdays at 7pm on BBC One, while Children in Need 2025 will be broadcast on Friday 14 November from 7pm.
