Airport Staff Warned Me Never to Wear Juicy Couture Tracksuit Again

A journalist has revealed that airport security staff at Manchester Airport strongly advised her never to wear her Juicy Couture tracksuit through security again after it triggered the scanners. Danielle Kate Wroe, a senior social news reporter, recounted her experience of being pulled aside and searched because of the diamante 'Juicy' lettering on her tracksuit top and pants.

What Happened at Security

Wroe wore her Juicy Couture tracksuit, paired with Uggs, for a flight to a warm destination. At security, a staff member noticed the diamante lettering on her top and asked if her pants had the same design. When she confirmed, the officer chuckled and said she would almost certainly be flagged. Indeed, the scanner alerted, and Wroe was asked to have her shoes inspected. The officer then advised her not to wear the tracksuit to the airport in future to avoid being stopped.

Not an Isolated Incident

Wroe acknowledged that this was not the first time she had received such advice, but she finds the tracksuit too comfortable and stylish to leave at home. She noted that she is frequently stopped at security due to jewellery, so she suspects she would have triggered the alarm regardless. Other women have shared similar experiences on X, with one writing: 'My bedazzled Juicy Couture track pants set off the airport security scanner and I had to get a pat down and an explosives test.' Another said: 'I went through airport security in my Juicy Couture pants, and the bum got flagged.'

Staff Conduct and Advice

Despite the inconvenience, Wroe praised the security staff at Manchester Airport for being courteous and professional. She contrasted this with unpleasant experiences at other airports, noting that the Manchester staff were cheerful and efficient. Manchester Airport has been contacted for comment.

The incident highlights how certain clothing items, particularly those with metallic embellishments, can trigger airport security scanners, leading to additional checks. Travellers are advised to avoid wearing such items to expedite the security process.
