Adil Ray has confirmed his return to ITV's Good Morning Britain after a period away from the programme. The actor and comedian, who has been a presenter on the breakfast show since 2018, announced the news on Instagram, prompting an outpouring of support from viewers.

Adil Ray's Announcement

In his Instagram post, Ray wrote: "Some news! Yes I have not been on in a while but glad to be on a little over the coming weeks, on what remains one the most important shows on UK television, during the most important of times." He highlighted his role as "one of the only (if not the only) Muslims to host a major news show in mainstream peak daytime," according to the Mirror. He added: "So many others have left the traditional outlets, so I am fortunate and grateful of the continued opportunity. And of course I aim to reflect us all, especially the Villa fans." Ray confirmed he would be presenting on Thursdays throughout July and August.

Fans quickly responded with enthusiasm. One commented: "Yay! Happy to see you back Adil." Another wrote: "Can't wait," while a third added: "Nice one, Adil x." Someone else said: "Looking forward to tuning in..." and another replied: "You have been missed!"

Susanna Reid's Break

Ray's return follows Susanna Reid's announcement that she was taking a break from Good Morning Britain. Reid appeared alongside Ed Balls earlier this week, including an extended broadcast that overran into Lorraine Kelly's slot to cover Sir Keir Starmer's resignation speech. She explained: "We are now in rolling news mode, we will be on air until 10am this morning because we've anticipated it all morning." After the programme, she announced her temporary departure on social media, stating she would be back on Monday, July 6. One viewer responded: "You will be missed Susanna," while another said: "Oh it's never the same when you're not there!"

Good Morning Britain airs weekdays from 6am on ITV1 and ITVX.
