Adil Ray has confirmed his return to Good Morning Britain after a break, receiving an outpouring of support from fans. The actor and comedian, who has appeared on the ITV daytime programme since 2018, shared the update on Instagram, stating he had been off screens for “a while” but would be appearing on upcoming Thursdays through July and August.
Adil Ray's Announcement
In his Instagram post, Ray wrote: “Some news! Yes I have not been on in a while but glad to be on a little over the coming weeks, on what remains one the most important shows on UK television, during the most important of times.” He highlighted his role as “one of the only (if not the only) Muslims to host a major news show in mainstream peak daytime,” adding, “So many others have left the traditional outlets, so I am fortunate and grateful of the continued opportunity. And of course I aim to reflect us all, especially the Villa fans. Thank you for supporting me everyone, and I hope you will join us @gmb next Thursday.”
Fan Reactions
Ray’s followers quickly expressed their enthusiasm. One fan wrote, “Yay! Happy to see you back Adil,” while another said, “Can’t wait.” A third commented, “Nice one, Adil x,” and someone else added, “Looking forward to tuning in…” Another echoed, “You have been missed!”
Context of Ray's Return
Ray’s announcement comes shortly after Susanna Reid revealed she was taking a break from Good Morning Britain. Reid co-presented the programme with Ed Balls earlier this week, including an extended show that ran into Lorraine Kelly’s usual ITV slot to provide coverage of Sir Keir Starmer’s resignation speech. Reid later confirmed on social media that she would be away from the show until Monday 6th July, working on a special project. She wrote: “BREAKING! At 9.30 this morning the Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer RESIGNED as Prime Minister live @gmb. ANOTHER resignation at Number 10 in the last DECADE after Cameron, May, Johnson, Truss and Sunak. I’m on a special project and will be back @gmb on Monday 6th July, the week that nominations for a new leader open. See you then @itv.” Fans responded with messages such as “You will be missed Susanna” and “Oh it’s never the same when you’re not there!”
