Adil Ray confirms Good Morning Britain return after break

Good Morning Britain presenter Adil Ray has received backing from supporters after announcing his comeback to the programme following an absence. The actor and comedian, who has featured on the ITV breakfast show since 2018, shared an update on Instagram after being away from screens for "a while".

Adil Ray confirms return to Good Morning Britain

Adil wrote on Instagram: "Some news! Yes I have not been on in a while but glad to be on a little over the coming weeks, on what remains one the most important shows on UK television, during the most important of times. Being one of the only (if not the only) Muslims to host a major news show in mainstream peak daytime," reports the Mirror. He added: "So many others have left the traditional outlets, so I am fortunate and grateful of the continued opportunity. And of course I aim to reflect us all, especially the Villa fans. Thank you for supporting me everyone, and I hope you will join us @gmb next Thursday."

He confirmed he would be presenting on the programme during forthcoming Thursdays throughout July and August. Adil's followers were quick to express their enthusiasm, with one stating: "Yay! Happy to see you back Adil." Another commented: "Can't wait," while a third added: "Nice one, Adil x." Someone else remarked: "Looking forward to tuning in..." Another responded: "You have been missed!"

Susanna Reid announces break from Good Morning Britain

Adil's revelation follows Susanna Reid announcing she was taking a break from Good Morning Britain. Susanna joined Ed Balls to co-host the programme earlier this week, which included an extended broadcast that ran into Lorraine Kelly's regular ITV slot, allowing the pair to provide live commentary following Sir Keir Starmer's resignation speech. At the time, Susanna remarked: "We are now in rolling news mode, we will be on air until 10am this morning because we've anticipated it all morning." Once the programme concluded, she confirmed she would be stepping away from Good Morning Britain for a period.

She teased on social media: "BREAKING! At 9.30 this morning the Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer RESIGNED as Prime Minister live @gmb. ANOTHER resignation at Number 10 in the last DECADE after Cameron, May, Johnson, Truss and Sunak. I'm on a special project and will be back @gmb on Monday 6th July, the week that nominations for a new leader open. See you then @itv." One person replied: "You will be missed Susanna." Another said: "Oh it's never the same when you're not there!" Good Morning Britain airs weekdays from 6am on ITV1 and ITVX.
