World Cup fans were shocked tonight as Adam Richman, the former host of Man Vs Food, presented ITV's coverage of the tournament. The New Yorker and Tottenham Hotspur fan joined the broadcaster's line-up in New York, leaving viewers confused.
Who Is Adam Richman?
Adam Richman is best known for hosting the competitive eating series Man Vs Food from 2008 to 2012. The show was regularly repeated in the UK, and a spin-off, Adam Richman Eats Britain, aired in 2024. Now 52, Richman has slimmed down considerably after retiring from the series, losing around 30kg through diet and exercise.
ITV's World Cup Line-Up
Richman co-hosted alongside fellow American Semra Hunter in their own section of the set, away from main host Mark Pougatch and pundits Roy Keane, Gary Neville, and Ian Wright. Many viewers took to social media to comment on his inclusion.
Fan Reactions
- One viewer joked: "Don't mind Adam Richman being part of ITV's World Cup coverage but they should be making him eat a 9 foot wide pizza while he's there."
- Another wrote: "Give me a Roy Keane reaction cam in the corner whenever they hand to Adam Richman."
- A third said: "Can get aboard with the Adam Richman segments on ITV's coverage. All round solid bloke who loves football and will surely get some good snippets of local knowledge and food clips."
- One moaned: "What does Adam Richman have to do with the World Cup exactly??"
However, many pointed out his football credentials. A viewer explained: "All you people moaning about Adam Richman Man Vs Food being on ITV's World Cup Panel know Jack S***. He loves his football, proper Spurs man, goes to games & sits with ordinary supporters, sat with us at Chelsea away a few years back."
Richman's passion for football and his local knowledge are expected to bring a unique perspective to the coverage.
