Controversy has surrounded the build-up to Holly Ramsay and Adam Peaty's wedding, with reports that the Olympic swimmer's mother, Caroline Peaty, was not invited to the hen do and may also be excluded from the wedding itself.
Caroline, 59, was at home caring for Adam's son from a previous relationship while Holly, her mother Tana, family friend Victoria Beckham, and Adam's sister enjoyed the hen party at Soho Farmhouse in Oxfordshire last weekend. Photos shared on Instagram showed the group with cocktails and champagne.
A source close to Holly, the daughter of celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay, suggested that Caroline might have 'stuck out a bit' at the glamorous event. 'You only have to look at the picture to see that there is a certain type. They all look the same and you wonder if Caroline might have stuck out a bit. She's a normal woman, not a celebrity,' the source told the Mirror.
Caroline has shared a quote on Instagram that read: 'When you love someone, you protect them from the pain, you don't become the cause of it,' adding in the caption: 'The ones I love are the people who hurt me the most.' Her sister, Louise Williams, also criticised Holly, calling her 'divisive and hurtful' in a social media message.
It is understood that Caroline and her husband Mark were initially invited to the wedding at Bath Abbey, but the invitation was later rescinded. Despite the feud, an insider said that Holly's family adores Adam, but noted that 'when you have a normal side of a family and a very, very rich and globally famous one on the other, there are going to be difficulties.'
