Adam Peaty's estrangement from his family appears to be deepening as he and his wife Holly Ramsay prepare for the birth of their first child together. The Olympic gold medalist, 31, and Holly, 26, announced their pregnancy days ago, revealing they are expecting a daughter in December 2026.
The couple married in a lavish ceremony at Bath Abbey last December, attended by celebrities including the Beckhams, Sara Davies, and Marcus Wareing. However, the wedding was marked by tension as Peaty's family was largely not invited, highlighting a rift that has since become public.
How Peaty's Mother Learned of the Pregnancy
According to a source speaking to the Daily Mail, Peaty sent his mother Caroline a 'simple formal text' informing her of the pregnancy. Caroline, who was on holiday at the time, received the message just as Holly posted the news on social media. The source described the message as 'brief and to the point,' adding that there was 'no happy gathering, no phone call just a brief mobile message.'
Caroline responded with a measured statement: 'I am happy for them. News of a new baby is always welcome.'
Family Feud Background
The Peaty family feud became public in November when Caroline was absent from Holly's hen do. Shortly after, Peaty's brother James was arrested over allegations he sent threats to the Olympian during his stag do in Budapest. Ahead of the wedding, Peaty released a statement acknowledging 'challenging times' and urging people to remember there were 'two sides to every story.'
Caroline has previously expressed her 'heartbreak' over the estrangement. In May, an insider claiming to be close to the Peaty family told the Daily Mail that Peaty was trying to 'cash in' on the Ramsay name. 'He is playing a role. Adam may be rich but we have something that he hasn't and that is brains, loyalty, integrity and family,' the source said.
Ramsay Family Support
While Peaty's biological family remains distant, the Ramsay family has embraced him. Holly's father, celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay, defended his son-in-law in an interview with The Sun. 'At the end of the day there was a lot of friction going on before all that and so there was some stuff that they needed to sort it out and so it was sad to see that barrage of negativity that was self-propelled by them,' Ramsay said.
He also suggested that the Peaty family had sought media attention: 'When you start enjoying that kind of press attention, and you revel in it, you're sort of feeding the beast.'
Baby Announcement
Holly shared the pregnancy news on social media with a photo of the couple gazing at each other, her baby bump visible. The caption read: 'Baby Ramsay-Peaty coming December 2026. We can't wait to meet our baby girl.' Peaty also has a five-year-old son from a previous relationship with artist Eirianedd Munro, from whom he split in 2022.
