Caroline Peaty has spoken out after her son Adam Peaty competed in the Glasgow Commonwealth Games, where he won bronze in the 100m breaststroke. In a heartfelt statement, she expressed her continued love and support for the swimming champion, even from a distance.
Emotional Reaction and Family Feud
After breaking down in tears following his bronze medal, Adam reflected on the personal struggles he has faced. He told reporters: 'It’s hard because I know how hard I’ve worked. I know the s**t I’ve been through, which is no fault of my own. It does take a toll.' He also called for an end to public scrutiny of his private life, saying 'enough is enough' and stressing the importance of being decent people.
Caroline responded on Instagram, first posting a black and white photo of Cillian Murphy from Peaky Blinders with a caption about forgiveness: 'I forgive people but that doesn't mean I accept their behaviour or trust them. I forgive them for me, so I can let go and move on with my life.' She then shared a direct message to her son, stating: 'We continue to support Adam from afar. He's our son who we love, whom we supported to reach his aspirations.'
Family Strength Amid Nastiness
The family feud stems from Adam uninviting several family members from his wedding to Holly Ramsay, daughter of Gordon Ramsay. The couple recently announced they are expecting their first child. Caroline admitted to speaking with a national newspaper after the initial fallout but said she has not commented publicly since.
Caroline and her husband Mark did not attend the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, but Adam was cheered on by his wife Holly. Explaining his emotional reaction, Adam said: 'I’m not crying because it’s bronze instead of gold. I’m crying because I know I am better than that. I feel like I couldn’t have put any more in and that’s where it hurts.' He added: 'She’s always going to be proud of me and I think as a father, it doesn’t matter if you come home with a gold, as long as you come home with a teddy.'
