Olympic swimmer Adam Peaty has faced criticism after reportedly telling his father he could attend his wedding to Holly Ramsay but would have to sit at the back of the church. The couple married at Bath Abbey in Somerset on Saturday, with only Peaty's sister Bethany from his immediate family in attendance.
A family source told The Sun on Sunday that Peaty's father Mark was informed by Bethany before Christmas that he could come to the wedding, but would be seated behind plus-ones. The source described the demand as 'awful', adding that the family spent the evening together after the ceremony, with Caroline Peaty becoming upset upon seeing wedding photographs.
The rift between Peaty and his parents reportedly stems from September 2024, when the couple did not invite wider family members to their engagement party. Caroline was also excluded from Holly's hen do at Soho Farmhouse last month, despite the presence of Tana Ramsay and Victoria Beckham. In an interview with the Daily Mail, Caroline said the situation had left her feeling as if her heart had been 'cut out'.
Despite the tensions, Caroline sent a card and gift to her son for his 31st birthday on Monday. Meanwhile, Holly's father Gordon Ramsay walked her down the aisle and described himself as 'couldn't be a prouder dad' in an Instagram post. The wedding was attended by celebrities including Sir David and Lady Victoria Beckham and broadcaster Dan Walker.
Peaty's representative has been approached for comment by The Mirror.
