Adam Peaty's family appeared to make a pointed dig at the Olympian as he married Holly Ramsay. While the guest list at Bath Abbey included David and Victoria Beckham, members of Peaty's family were uninvited amid a reported feud.
Some speculated that the family's feelings were made known by flying a Union Flag upside down near their property. The inverted flag is internationally recognised as a symbol of distress.
Peaty's mother, Caroline, was uninvited to the wedding. She had initially planned to gatecrash but opted against it. Speaking to MailOnline, she said: 'I don't think they understand how much they have hurt me; it's as if they have cut my heart out.'
She added: 'This is the first Christmas that I've not had my family together – my family is broken. Me going would just cause even more of a storm and I don't want to ruin his wedding day.'
In attendance were Holly's father, celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay, her sisters Tilly and Megan, mother Tana, brother Jack, and celebrities including David and Victoria Beckham and Dan Walker. The reception was held at Kin House, a Georgian manor with a secret stage, private pool, and 10-acre garden.
