Olympic swimmer Adam Peaty and Holly Ramsay changed their names on social media immediately after their wedding in December. Peaty, 31, and Holly, 25 – daughter of TV chef Gordon Ramsay – married in a ceremony attended by guests including the Beckhams. The three-time Olympic gold medallist excluded his parents and other relatives from the wedding; only his sister Bethany was present.
Professional name change
Adam changed his Instagram to display the double-barreled surname Ramsay Peaty after the wedding. At the 2026 Commonwealth Games this week, he was announced as 'Adam Ramsay-Peaty' in the 100m breaststroke final on Saturday and the 50m race on Sunday, where he won bronze medals. Holly cheered from the stands and the athlete kissed her stomach as they expect their first child.
Speaking tearfully after his performance, Adam expressed disappointment and admitted that a family feud in the lead-up to the wedding had 'taken a toll' on his career. Weeks before the wedding, a rift erupted between Adam and his mother Caroline, who was reportedly 'banned' from the ceremony. Caroline confirmed she would not gatecrash.
Name changes and family rift
Holly also changed her name on Instagram to 'HollyAnna Ramsay Peaty'. Adam's move mirrors that of Brooklyn Beckham, who took his wife's surname Peltz amid an alleged feud with his family. Brooklyn recently blocked his parents and siblings on Instagram, according to Cruz.
Despite tensions, Victoria Beckham attended Holly's hen do at Soho Farmhouse alongside Tana and Adam's sister. A family member told The Sun: 'We were sent a save the date and it’s all these country houses. I’m on Universal Credit — I can’t afford that. Adam has been changed by money, fame and fortune. He seems to have forgotten where he came from.' The family claimed Caroline is 'heartbroken' and that Adam treated her 'appallingly'.
Adam later shared a statement responding to the tension: 'Over the past few days, a lot has been reported and comments posted about the private life of Holly and myself. My sister Bethany, has also been targeted. This has been almost entirely one-sided and, in many cases, excessive and intrusive. What makes it worse is that it has been encouraged by members of my family.'
Support from Gordon Ramsay
Adam credited father-in-law Gordon with helping him escape 'three years of hell' struggling with alcoholism. The celebrity chef was also there for him when he split from the mother of his son, Eirianedd Munro. Gordon reportedly assured that his wife Tana 'will be a good mum to them both' during his wedding speech, in a small dig at the family tensions.
Holly and Adam first met on Strictly Come Dancing in 2021, when he and Holly's younger sister Matilda were competing, but did not begin a relationship until 2023. Speaking to The Sunday Times, Adam said of Holly: 'She’s been pinnacle to this moment in my life where I can have peace and I can have that kind of love where it’s not defined by anything else other than the connection that we have. It’s great, and I look forward to the future.'
