Veteran actor Dinyar Tirandaz has passed away at the age of 69, his family confirmed. He died in Mumbai after a prolonged illness. Further details regarding the cause of death and funeral arrangements are yet to be officially announced.
Career Highlights
Tirandaz began his acting journey in the 1984 film Duniya, which launched him into fame. He went on to star in numerous films and TV series, including Hello Brother, Albela, Chalte Chalte, Maine Pyaar Kyun Kiya?, Kya Kehna, Dil Hai Ke Manta Nahin, and Kamaal Dhamaal Malamaal.
One of his most notable works was in the acclaimed series Nukkad, which captured the lives of ordinary people, and the detective drama Byomkesh Bakshi. He also portrayed Mr Keki Daruwala in the cult sitcom Zabaan Sambhal Ke, a role beloved by fans.
Later Years and Tributes
His final screen appearance was in the 2017 Gujarati family drama Wass…up! Zindagi. In later years, he moved away from the film industry, co-owning a theatre company with his wife and running a metal polishing business.
Tributes flooded in from celebrities and fans. Actor Suresh Menon commented, "Om Shanti," while actress Chitrangda Singh shared folded-hands emojis. Actor Uday Tikekar and many fans also paid their respects, recalling Tirandaz's contributions to Indian entertainment.
