Peter Crouch and Abbey Clancy are developing a new travel show for the BBC, titled '6 Foot 7 Wonders of the World', a reference to the former footballer's height. The couple have already filmed a pilot episode, and a full series is anticipated, featuring them exploring various exotic locations.
The announcement comes months after the pair faced backlash for posting holiday snaps from Dubai during the pandemic, while many in the UK were under strict Tier 4 restrictions. Abbey shared images of their family Christmas in the UAE, including a photo of their daughter Sophie sipping orange juice from a first-class seat.
Critics accused the couple of being 'out of touch' and 'disappointing', leading Abbey to delete the holiday montage from Instagram. Despite the controversy, BBC insiders have described the show as 'funny and relatable', highlighting the couple's dynamic as appealing to viewers.
The pilot was reportedly filmed in Finland, and Crouch is also working on other TV projects after impressing bosses with his 'everyman persona'. He previously co-hosted the Saturday night series 'Save Our Summer' with Maya Jama and Alex Horne.
