Abbey Clancy's 20-year-old cat Maggie dies

Model and television personality Abbey Clancy has shared her heartbreak after announcing the death of her beloved family cat, Maggie, who was 20 years old.

A Family Farewell to a Furry Friend

The 39-year-old took to her Instagram Stories to reveal the sad news, posting poignant photos of her children cuddling their long-time pet. In one image, she wrote, "Goodnight my beautiful baby. You were one in a million. 20 years with you I'm heartbroken."

Another snap showed one of her sons holding Maggie on the kitchen floor, captioned with "Lost without you baby," followed by a red love heart. The loss comes just weeks after the Clancy-Crouch household, which Abbey shares with football pundit husband Peter Crouch, 44, welcomed a new puppy.

A Full House of Pets and New Arrivals

On The Therapy Crouch podcast, which she hosts with Peter, Abbey recently disclosed she had acquired a new 'teacup' Maltese dog named Bambi for her daughter, Liberty, 10. This was despite Peter's protests about not wanting more animals.

The family's extensive menagerie already includes a black Labrador, a Cavapoo, a tabby cat, a stray kitten adopted from Portugal, and a lizard belonging to her youngest son, Jack, six. Abbey also has a horse named Enzo that she rides daily.

Abbey's passion for pets stems from her own childhood, where she was rarely allowed animals. She recounted a traumatic experience where her mother gave away her only kitten to a policeman. "I've still got PTSD from my childhood because I was never allowed a pet," she shared.

Future Plans for Animal Sanctuary

Looking to the future, the animal-loving star is in talks with charities to offer a home to mistreated horses on the grounds of the family's Surrey estate. "Some have been rescued, they've been treated badly, they are rehabilitated but are homeless," she explained, noting they would be companions rather than rideable.

Peter joked about the plan, saying, "I'm worried that, you know, we're basically opening up a horse sanctuary." Abbey is currently being vetted before the potential new arrivals can move in.

The couple are also parents to daughter Sophia Ruby, 14, and son Johnny, seven. The death of Maggie marks the end of a significant chapter for the family, having been a constant companion for two decades through many life changes.
