Death in Paradise may not be airing at present, but there are several other BBC crime dramas on iPlayer to fill the gap. The most recent series of the sun-drenched drama featuring Don Gilet and Don Warrington concluded earlier this year, with fresh episodes still months away. Fans also face a long wait for the next instalment of its spin-off Beyond Paradise. Fortunately, BBC iPlayer offers other programmes brimming with mysteries and plot twists.
A Good Girl's Guide to Murder
Emma Myers leads the second series of A Good Girl's Guide to Murder, which returned earlier this year after its 2024 debut. Adapted from Holly Jackson's novel, it follows Pip (Myers), whose life has been transformed after solving the Andie Bell case. She wants to avoid another mystery, but as Max Hastings' trial approaches, Connor's brother Jamie disappears, forcing Pip into a race against time. The synopsis notes: "This new mystery takes Pip to unexpected places as she struggles with the idea of justice, straying even further from the 'good girl' she once was." One viewer on Rotten Tomatoes called it "gripping, emotional, and hard to stop watching."
The Cage
The Cage is a "high-stakes, high energy crime story" set in a Liverpool casino. Sheridan Smith plays Leanne, who steals from the safe, while Michael Socha's character Matty also helps himself. Their lives collide with each other, a local gangster, and the police. Viewers on X declared they were "obsessed," calling it "incredible" and "phenomenal." One user added: "Sheridan Smith is as excellent as ever."
Death Valley
The second series of Death Valley is also streaming. The Wales-based drama follows retired actor John Chapel (Timothy Spall) and Detective Sergeant Janie Mallowan (Gwyneth Keyworth) solving crimes. In the latest series, John returns to acting while Janie gets a promotion, causing a rift until a murder reunites them. A synopsis teases: "Will this foray into his old thespian passion ignite something once forgotten in John?" Viewers described it as "brilliant," "excellent," and "wonderful." One person shared on X: "It's been the best series I have seen in a while."
All three series are available on BBC iPlayer.
