Louis Tomlinson has spoken out about the ongoing tensions within One Direction, suggesting that a feud with former bandmate Zayn Malik is a major obstacle to any potential reunion. The singer, promoting his new album Walls, revealed that Malik failed to support him after his mother's death in 2016, deepening the rift.
Tomlinson told The Sun that Malik had promised to attend his X Factor performance following the loss of his mother, Jay, to leukaemia, but did not show up. He also cited Malik's repeated derogatory comments about the band, including calling their music “generic as f**k,” as further evidence of disrespect.
Despite the feud, Tomlinson acknowledged that a reunion might happen eventually. “We’d be stupid not to,” he said, but added that he is not ready to reconcile with Malik. “There might be a day where I wake up and think, ‘Ok, I want to right that wrong,’ but not yet.”
Tomlinson also reflected on his struggle to find his place in the band and the personal tragedies he has faced, including the deaths of his mother and half-sister Félicité. He recently clashed with BBC presenter Dan Walker after being pressed about his grief during an interview, vowing not to return to the show.
