July 2026 is set to deliver a diverse lineup of video games, including a remake of a fan-favorite Assassin's Creed, new Nintendo exclusives, and the historic debut of Halo on PlayStation 5. Despite the typical summer drought, several titles stand out as must-plays.
Rhythm Paradise Groove
Launching July 2 on Nintendo Switch, Rhythm Paradise Groove is the first new entry in over a decade and Nintendo's final first-party exclusive for the original Switch. It features 80 rhythm minigames, a turn-based RPG side mode, and multiplayer options. A free demo with five minigames is available.
Doom: The Dark Ages – Revelations
This expansion for Doom: The Dark Ages arrives July 7 on PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC. It continues the story with new levels set in an icy purgatory, a spear weapon, and paid DLC. A free update adds Ripatorium arena customizations and new content for DLC completers.
Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced
Released July 9 on PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC, this full remake of the 2013 classic features graphical upgrades, improved gameplay, additional missions focused on Blackbeard, and a downplayed modern-day subplot.
Palworld 1.0
Exiting early access on July 10, Palworld 1.0 launches on PS5, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, and PC. It adds new pals, areas, a wing pack, and story content involving the World Tree. Despite Nintendo's patent infringement lawsuit, IP expert Florian Mueller suggests damages may be limited to $30,000.
D-Topia
D-Topia, a puzzle adventure from Annapurna Interactive and Marumittu Games, releases July 14 on multiple platforms. Set in an AI-driven world, players solve logic puzzles to maintain happiness. A free PC demo is available on Steam.
Denshattack!
Delayed from June, Denshattack! launches July 15 on PS5, Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC. This high-speed train trick game features a soundtrack by Richard Jacques, Shoji Meguro, Takenobu Mitsuyoshi, and Ryo Nagamatsu.
Moss: The Forgotten Relic
July 16 sees the non-VR bundle of Moss and its sequel on PS5, Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch 2, Switch, and PC. Polyarc remastered the games to reach a wider audience after canceling a major project and laying off staff.
Avatar Legends: The Fighting Game
Launching July 23 on multiple platforms, this fighting game features 12 characters from Avatar: The Last Airbender and The Legend of Korra. Priced at £24.99, it plans five DLC fighters; pre-order customers vote on one character.
Splatoon Raiders
A Nintendo Switch 2 exclusive spin-off releasing July 23, Splatoon Raiders focuses on single-player exploration of the Spirhalite Islands with Deep Cut, plus four-player co-op. A matching amiibo pack launches same day.
Halo: Campaign Evolved
July 28 marks Halo's PS5 debut with this remake on PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC. It omits original multiplayer but includes local co-op and new story missions. The move signals Microsoft's multiplatform strategy, though future exclusivity remains uncertain.
Xenoblade Chronicles 2 – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition
Releasing July 30 for Nintendo Switch 2, this upgrade adds 4K resolution, 60fps, direct Blade control, a new sidequest, and costumes. The Torna expansion is included for £7.99 if owned on Switch 1.
