Acclaimed actress and television host Whoopi Goldberg has officially launched a new publishing imprint named WhoopInk, in a strategic partnership with Blackstone Publishing. This exciting venture marks Goldberg's latest foray into the literary world, following the publication of more than a dozen of her own books.
A New Chapter in Publishing
WhoopInk is designed to bring fresh, diverse new talent to the marketplace, with a focus on works spanning a wide array of genres. According to Blackstone Publishing, Goldberg will be intimately involved in all aspects of the imprint, from cover design to promotional activities. This hands-on approach underscores her commitment to nurturing emerging voices in the industry.
Personal Connections and Future Projects
At least one author under the WhoopInk banner is already well-known to Goldberg: Rick Bleiweiss, a Blackstone executive who previously signed Goldberg's memoir, "Bits and Pieces: My Mother, My Brother, and Me." Goldberg plans to publish the next novel in Bleiweiss' "Pignon Scorbion & the Barbershop Detectives" mystery series through WhoopInk.
Additionally, Goldberg intends to release some of her own books under the new imprint, including a follow-up to her bestselling memoir, "Bits and Pieces," which is set to be released in paperback this week. In a statement released on Monday, Goldberg expressed her enthusiasm for the project, stating, "I am personally looking forward to finding new authors, working with established authors, and bringing influential voices into this curated imprint."
Celebrity Imprints on the Rise
Goldberg's move into publishing aligns with a growing trend among celebrities who have launched their own imprints in recent years. Notable figures such as Sarah Jessica Parker, John Legend, and Questlove have all overseen similar ventures. Meanwhile, other public figures like Reese Witherspoon, Dakota Johnson, and Dua Lipa have formed their own book clubs, further highlighting the increasing intersection of celebrity influence and the literary world.
The launch of WhoopInk represents a significant step in Goldberg's career, blending her passion for storytelling with a desire to support and elevate diverse voices in publishing. As the imprint takes shape, it promises to offer a platform for both new and established authors, contributing to a more inclusive and dynamic literary landscape.
